About Us

A Very warm welcome to FitzCycles.ie!

We are a customer-focused bike shop based in a funky old church in Stillorgan, South County Dublin.

We simply seek out the very best brands available - in many cases we are the only dealer in Ireland for our brands.

We set out in 2010 to offer the best service... the best workshop... the best shop... the best brands... the best everything!

To this day, every day, we strive to acheive this.

Our Story... blood, sweat & gears:

This was a new adventure for FitzCycles.ie owner, Paul Fitzsimons, turning his back on the dream of a mediocre career with his limited skills in accountancy, but while it may be based on a very modern concept, FitzCycles.ie has actually been decades in the making – it can be traced all the way back to the 1940’s on the High Street in Killarney, Co. Kerry when his Grandad Billy Hearne set up a local bike shop called Killarney Cycle Traders.

Cool old memborabilia from his Grandad's bike shop!

For over 40 years the popular shop successfully sold, serviced and rented bikes to locals and tourists alike, and it was during childhood trips during the summer that he’d peer through the shop window at countless high-nellies, wheels and tyres – he didn’t quite know what to make of it, all he knew was it looked like fun!

Unfortunately the shop closed with the passing of Billy, but cycling remained close to my heart thanks to Paul's late father Philip Fitzsimons – to everyone who knew him, he was the marathon man, strong as an ox, and it was he who encouraged the budding cyclist in Paul, teaching him how to cycle and supporting him in his schools’ club, the Willow Wheelers and then when he raced in the Bray Wheelers and UCD Cycling Club. He was also heavily involved in the FBD Rás and from the age of 8 Paul would head off with him to follow it each May – simply the best childhood memories anyone could hope for - this new venture simply wouldn't have happened without him & the shop is very much a tribute to him, in name & in spirit.

A little overexcited on his first day in the shop!

Paul had the help of family and friend's to set up the shop, not-to-mention serious back-up from some of his old school friends in the form of Michael McDonald, aka Big Mac, & Michael O'Reilly, aka Micko - best mates for nearly 20 years and the shop has been all the better for it - both guys remain close to the shop and very keen cyclists!

The original wise guys - Mike, Mac & Paulie!

The shop fit-out was a total rollercoaster - blood, sweat & tears - but since 2010 it's gone from strength to strength, we've learnt a helluva lot and thankfully we've had a great response from the public. Whether it's our product line-up, our website or the shopfloor itself we're constantly pushing it and driving it on in order to become the best bike shop possible!

Before & after - a 3 month fit out nearly broke us!

We've been very lucky to find simply the best professional bike mechanics in Ireland in the form of Karl Rice and have grown our crew to 8 staff - together we're working hard to create a new kind of bike shop that you deserve - constantly improving - it's only looking at these photos that it reminds us how much the shop has progressed!

Karl leads our workshop and drives the standars past any other in the country.

We hope the result of all this effort is Ireland’s best bike shop offering all the benefits of a world class online bike shop, but uniquely backed up by a friendly, modern local bike shop – big enough to offer a great range of products, but still focused enough to care!

Pop into the shop for a chat, coffee & all that good stuff!
